About
Cerebral small vessel disease (SVD) is a major contributor to stroke, cognitive impairment and movement disorder with poorly understood pathology and limited therapeutic interventions. Abnormal signals such as white matter hyperintensitiy, cerebral microbleed, recent subcortical small infarcts and cerebral atrophy can often be found in imaging examination. There is a critical need to further clarify the occurrence, development, and prognosis of the disease. We plan to use this large cohort study, to further explore the risk factors that contribute to sporadic and genetic CSVD to help uncover pathogenesis and new treatments, identify how the factors influence patients on clinical manifestation such as cognition through brain change on images, and find effective prevention strategies to reduce CSVD burden.1 Publication
