Aims: This study aims to discover novel biomarkers involved in the development of diabetes and its complications. This study also aims to establish predictive tools for assessing disease risk by analyzing genetic, metabolomic, proteomic, and clinical data, which will enable us to identify individuals with a high risk of developing diabetes and its complications.
Scientific rationale: Diabetes is a multifactorial disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Despite advances in treatment, we still have a limited understanding of the complex interplay of the genetic and environmental components on disease onset and progression. Furthermore. the burden of diabetes and its complications continues to increase globally. Understanding the underlying mechanisms driving diabetes and its complications is crucial for developing targeted interventions, personalized treatment strategies, and preventive measures.
Project duration: The project is planned to take 36 months after data download.
Public health impact: The findings of this study are expected to provide a comprehensive understanding of the underlying mechanisms of diabetes and its complications. Then, based on the findings of this study, we can identify novel biomarkers, establish more accurate diagnostic and prediction tools, and develop targeted therapeutic strategies.
