About
The revolution of multi-omics technologies has greatly benefited medical researches, but the underlying pathogenic and aging mechanisms of age-related diseases, to a large extent, still remain unknown. These underlying mechanisms involve various risk factors such as aging, environmental exposure, genetic architecture and so forth. Hence, we intend to perform a comprehensive pathogenic analysis for age-related diseases based on multi-omics data from UK biobank. As everyone is on the one-way trajectory of aging and the elderly are under the huge risk of various age-related diseases, identifying age-related and disease-specific molecular features is in urgent need. Thankfully, multi-omics data available in UK Biobank make it possible to shed light on the biological aging course and detail disease-specific mechanisms. Various kinds of phenotypic data also enable exploration into interactions among environmental factors, genes, mRNAs, proteins, metabolites and microbes within our body.
Our project is going to run for 3 years. Our discoveries and achievements can further illuminate mechanisms of aging and age-related diseases. In addition, our study will also comprehensively explore biomarkers underlying the occurrence and development of aging and age-related diseases from multiple dimensions. Finally, results and achievements from our project can be further translated into clinical utilities, such as early disease risk-stratification, early-stage preventions as well as post-treatments.
